Casalucense, Sant’Elia Fiumerapido,
Valleluce e German War Forts

#3
CASALUCENSE, SANT’ELIA FIUMERAPIDO, VALLELUCE E GERMAN WAR FORTS

Here you can pedal on the places of memory of World War II. In fact, at Monte Cifalco the Germans meticulously prepared their defence, because of its 947 metres, in a strategic position, they dominated the two valleys pointing north: the Rapido valley and the Atina valley. In front of Monte Cifalco there are the high ground of Belvedere and Colle Abate, which jut out towards the massif of Monte Cairo. Then you can pass by the Sanctuary of Casalucense, climb towards Valleluce and cross a stretch of the Gustav Line, to finally come across the traces left by the Germans, such as forts and pillbox.
